Meal Plan Monday

If you are looking for some meal planning ideas go to: www.orgjunkie.com

Here is my bare menu this week. It is bare for 3 reasons 1)because I have been too tired/overwhelmed to even think about going grocery shopping 2)because we are really busy this week and 3)I am trying to save money on our groceries by using what we already have. I must say however, that last week we basically stuck to our entire meal plan for the week, which usually doesn't happen at our house :) A work in progress, but success none the less.

Monday: Everyone Fend for yourself

Tuesday: Spagetti and meatballs

Wednesday: Easy chicken and cheese enchiladas with black beans

Thursday: sloppy joes and french fries

Friday: It is my birthday so we may or maynot go out. Either way I don't plan on cooking :)

Saturday: Lasagna, garlic bread, and salad

Mia's 1st birthday preview

I am so excited for Mia's First birthday! We are having a ladybug theme and celebrating with family in NJ. I made her invitations to save some money. They are definitely not high quality, state of the art invites but I am very proud! Here are steps in case you want to make some for you little one!

1) decide on size of body and trace onto black and red paper and cut out as many invites as you will need. (I used the lid of an oatmeal can), cut the red paper in half for the wings

2)trace smaller circle for the head and even smaller circles for the spots (I used a template from my scrap booking stash), you will need 5-6 spots per ladybug depending on how you want to decorate them

3) print off wording of invite on regular paper

4) attach pieces together with wings on top, then invitation, then black circle, and finally the head in the back using paper fasteners

5) Glue on eyes and spots

I also made Mia an outfit to go along with her ladybug theme. I created the onesie using a plain white onsie. I picked out the fabric to go with the theme, free hand drew a number one. I traced the number backwards onto the back of the fabric, Cut it out and hand sewed it onto the onesie. I was a little hesitant since I hand sewen it but my sewing machine was not cooperating so I had no choice. But it has held up nicely in the wash!

I also made her a No-sew tutu from a video tutorial I found on youtube. It was super easy and only took about 1 hour to make. Although I had to adjust it the next day when I tried it on Mia. Just a tip if you do make this: The elastic stretches as the tulle is tied onto it, so start out 2-3 inches smaller then your waist size.

Facebook hiatus

So tomorrow marks the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Now I am not catholic but I do think it is good to occasionally purge yourself of unwanted habits or trends in order to better serve God. This year I am giving up Facebook. Over the past few weeks I have really felt God telling me that this is one of those 'idols' that I have in my life ahead of Him. Therefore, starting at midnight tonight, I will be on a Facebook hiatus for 40 days. I hope that over the next 40 days I can re-prioritize my life and focus on the things that truly matter like spending more quality time with my family, increasing my daily quiet time with God and my daily Bible readings rather then spending hours glued to a computer screen. Feel free to call, txt, or email me if you want to know what is going on in my life over the next 40 days or you can follow me on here!
